About the course

Knowing rum well and teaching it well are different skills. The Certified Rum Educator™ builds both. Over about 30 hours (10.5 hours online, 7.5 hours live on Zoom and about 12 hours on your essay and presentation) you study rum history, advanced production, rules and labels, and global markets, then turn to teaching itself: how adults learn, running a tasting class that is safe and profitable, and delivering the official AWS Rum Explorer™ and Rum Ambassador™ courses, including exam administration. Entry: Certified Rum Ambassador™ and Certified Rum Sommelier™. Assessment: a 2,000-word essay and a 45-minute live teaching presentation to the AWS assessment panel, 70% on each to pass, Distinction at 85%. Includes the Educator Toolkit, 12 months' access and six one-to-one Zoom sessions. USD 995.
